Girls Aloud have released an ‘alternative vocal’ version of their debut single “Sound Of The Underground”, which is incredibly now 20 years old! The song was released following the girl’s individual victories in the 2002 TV series Popstars: The Rivals that lead to the formation of Girls Aloud.
“Sound Of The Underground” was released in December 2002 and went straight to the top of the UK singles chart, becoming the Christmas number one for that year. The song was written and produced by production team Xenomania and would eventually sell over a million copies. It was also a top ten hit across much of Europe and lead to a string of chart hits during the 00’s including three further top three hits from their first album, also of the same name.
“Sound Of The Underground” the album is receiving a 20th anniversary re-issue with additional tracks and is also remastered in 4k quality! With the loss of Sarah Harding in 2021, Kimberely, Nadine, Nicola and Cheryl have vowed to keep the flame of Girls Aloud strong, even though their last album together was itself over ten years ago. The group have sold over 20 million records since forming over a ten year period. See what you think of the ‘alternative’ version of their first single…
