Stefan Dennis aka Paul Robinson made a very brief transition into music in 1989. Didn’t that make him feel good at all?
Australian actor Stefan Dennis (b.1958) made his debut in the late 1970’s in the TV series Prisoner and played recurring roles in favourite serials The Sullivans and The Young Doctors, but it was in 1985 when he was cast as Paul Robinson in the then new soap opera Neighbours that he really made his name. Stefan played the part continually until 1993 before taking a break, only to return in 2004 for the remainder of the show until it was cancelled in 2022 after 37 years on the air. Stefan has been in just three films and a number of stage productions since, but in 1989, he surprised everyone when he crossed over to the recording studio.
In March 1989, he released his debut single, “Don’t It Make You Feel Good”, perhaps off the back of fellow cast members Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. The single made No.16 in the UK which promted a follow up with “This Love Affair” later in 1989. Sadly, this song flopped and only charted at No.67, and so that was it for his short-lived music career. Apart from a cameo in the 2013 video for Neighbours co-star Alan Fletcher (Karl) “If You Want A Happy Christmas”, Stefan has kept away from music. 2023 has seen him reunite with many familiar faces for the Neighbours: The Celebration Tour, just good friends to the last.
