THEN & NOW: ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ – Rick Astley (Part Four)

So Rick Astley has made his Glastonbury debut and he may well have stolen the show with his own set and also a stint with The Blossoms. Rick rocked the Somerset countryside, playing the drums, the guitar and generally making his presence felt all day!

Dressed in a salmon pink suit, Rick performed all of his classic hits from “Together Forever” to “Cry For Help” as well as a Harry Styles cover and an AC/DC track! Rick also performed his brand new single “Dippin’ My Feet“, released last week, but the one they all wanted to hear and sing for him was his first, “Never Gonna Give You Up”.

The timeless Stock Aitken Waterman classic number one from 1987 was dusted off for perhaps its biggest single audience yet and no matter what your musical tastes, evidently everyone knows the words! A good time was had by all in the blistering sun that day on 24th June 2023, and who would have thought the teaboy from Newton Le Willows would be crowned a demi God 36 years after he performed the song to the Top Of The Pops studio…
