THEN & NOW: Claire Richards

Steps singer Claire Richards is back with her second solo album “Euphoria”, the follow up to her 2019 debut, “My Wildest Dreams”. To kick off this era, Claire has recorded and released the first single from the album, “I Surrender”, a cover of a Celine Dion song from 2002.

Claire made her debut with Steps back in 1997 with the Country-Pop single “5-6-7-8” and the famous five enjoyed a string of hits into the early years of the 21st century. Taking a break, Claire and fellow band mate ‘H’ formed a duo and had a big hit with “DJ” in 2002 and a second top ten hit with “Half A Heart” later that same year. Steps regrouped in 2012 and have enjoyed three top ten albums and their recent “Platinum Collection” best of (2022).

“I Surrender” was written by Louis Biancaniello and Sam Watters and recorded by Celine for her 2002 album “A New Day Has Come“, which topped the UK and US album charts selling over twelve million copies worldwide. Claire does the song justice as her vocals are suited to the drama and passion given by Celine along with a Pop production courtesy of Steve Anderson.
