COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love’

The song, “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love”, was originally recorded by Barry White in 1974

Barry White (1944-2003) himself wrote and produced the song “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” in 1974 for his third studio album, “Can’t Get Enough”. The track was released as the lead single in June that year and went to No.1 in America, where it became his first chart topping single and sold over a million copies, and No.8 in the UK. It would be the album’s second single, “You’re The First, The Last, My Everything”, that would top the UK chart for the first time only a few months later.

“Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” has been recorded only a few times since, the most notable version coming from fellow American singer Taylor Dayne in 1993. She recorded the song for her album “Soul Dancing” and took it to No.20 in her home country. Her version was a big hit internationally, making the top ten in Australia (No.2) and across much of Europe. It peaked at No.14 in the UK, becoming her first hit there since “Prove Your Love” five years earlier.

But which version is the best? BARRY WHITE’s original or TAYLOR DAYNE’s cover?
