The song, “Rubberneckin'”, was originally recorded by Elvis Presley in 1969
“Rubberneckin'” was written by Dory Jones and Bunny Warren for the soundtrack of Elvis Presley’s 1969 film ‘Change Of Habit’, which would ultimately be his last acting role in a feature film.. The track was later used as the B side to his single “Don’t Cry Daddy”, which would peak at No.6 in America and No.8 in the UK, when released in November of 1969.
The song lay dormant and forgotten until British DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold remixed the track in 2003 off the back Elvis’ success with “A Little Less Conversation” in 2002. The track featured on the companion best of collection “Elvis: 2nd To None”. Released in August 2003, the new “Rubberneckin'” was a big chart hit around the world, peaking at No.5 in the UK and No.3 in Australia. It got to No.94 in America but topped the Dance chart there.
But which version is the best? The ORIGINAL or PAUL OAKENFOLD’s remix?
