Nina joins forces with Ricky Wilde for “Scala Hearts”
Synthwave
80’s retro artist Nina is about to release her next album, “Scala Hearts”, which she has recorded with none other than Ricky Wilde, brother of Kim! The pair have already showcased two leading tracks from the album, “LA Dreamers” and “Causeway”, both on NewRetroWave Records, and both mixing electric guitar with 80’s synth sounds.
Nina is already a well known and prolific artist via NewRetroWave. She released her first single, “Take Me Away”, in 2011 while her first EP, “One Of Us”, turned up in 2017. The following year, Nina released her debut album “Sleepwalking” with her second, “Synthian”, coming in 2020. Along with Elena Charbila aka ‘Kid Moxie’, she released her latest EP, “Lust”, earlier this year, recorded not long after her third album, “The Beginning” debuted in 2021.
On the flip side of the coin, Ricky Wilde can boast of more than 40 years in the business having written and produced most of his sisters biggest and best known hits from “Kids In America” to “Cambodia” and “Rage To Love” to “You Came“, all of them bearing his hallmark. But before Kim arrived on the scene in 1981, Ricky himself had been a child star in the making when he released his own single, “I Am An Astronaut” in 1972. The song would later be covered by Snow Patrol.
Coming full circle, Kim did guest vocals on Nina’s song “The Wire” from her album “Synthian – The Remixes”, reimagined in a Rock-Synth style and produced by Ricky! And it was from there that both Nina and Ricky began to create and imagine a full album of their work… “Scala Hearts” is due for release this Autumn.
Stay in touch with Nina
