Bananarama feel the love

FRESH: ‘Feel The Love’ – Bananarama

The ‘glorious’ Bananarama “Feel The Love”!

Pop

Bananarama – Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward – are feeling glorious, and so they should be with the announcement of their new greatest hits package, “Glorious”, next year.

Before then, the duo have released a brand new song, “Feel The Love”, their first since the 2022 album “Masquerade” and the lead single from this new, updated collection.

The track is a euphoric, Disco-infused, Pop banger, very much in the vein of their earlier smash, “Now Or Never”. The track is produced, as ever, by Ian Masterson, their regular collaborator in recent years and sees Sara and Keren sparkling just as they have done for the past 42 years. The ‘girls’ will also play a special one-night-only ‘gig’ at the London Palladium on 3rd April next year where they will perform all of their hits to a no doubt packed out auditorium.

“Glorious” will be their fourth major anthology (although there have been others) and comes just over 35 years since the release of the million plus selling “Greatest Hits Collection” in 1988, “The Very Best Of” in 2001 and “30 Years Of Bananarama” in 2012. The album will take in their “In Stereo” and “Masquerade” albums that have been delivered since their last compilation, both of which made the UK album chart top thirty, their best performing studio releases for over thirty years.

“Glorious” will stretch across five decades and take in their first chart hit, “It Ain’t What You Do…” with Fun Boy Three in 1981, as well as their singles with Stock Aitken Waterman from 1986 to 1989, their 90’s hits “Preacher Man” and “Movin’ On” and the duo’s resurgence in 2005 with “Move In My Direction” and “Look On The Floor”. Sara and Keren, along with Siobhan and Jacquie, remain the most enduringly successful all female group in chart history with “It Ain’t What You Do…” being a top five hit, right upto their most recent in 2005.

But the Bananarama story certainly didn’t stop there. Touring and recording constantly, they founded their own IN SYNK label and have been introduced to a whole new generation with a show-stealing set at Glastonbury in 2019, and win Classic Pop’s Best Pop Album award that year. “Feel The Love” is joined by another brand-new track in the shape of the pulsating “Supernova” as well as the previously released new version of “Cruel Summer – the 3am Mix“.

“Glorious” will be released on collector’s triple vinyl and double CD. Their official store exclusives include a deluxe vinyl and deluxe 3CD edition, both of which are accompanied by a book which features an introduction by broadsheet journalist Fiona Sturges, articles by Sara and Keren, and an in-depth exploration of Bananarama’s relationship with fashion and music by writer and trends expert Katie Baron. It also includes stunning still photography of many of Bananarama’s outfits and memorabilia from their personal collections.

“Glorious” is released on 8th March 2024
