The song, “Secrets”, was originally recorded by Kylie Minogue in 1990
Messrs. Stock Aitken Waterman wrote the song “Secrets” for Kylie’s third studio album, “Rhythm Of Love“, in 1990. Though not released as a single itself, the album contained what many regard as her four consecutively outstanding releases from “Better The Devil You Know” in May 1990 to “Shocked” in April 1991. “Rhythm Of Love” went Platinum in the UK and Australia and has sold over a million copies worldwide to date.
“Secrets” was ‘given’ to Eastenders actress Sophie Lawrence (b.1972) as the follow up to her cover of Donna Summer’s “Love’s Unkind”, which she took to No.21 in the UK, in 1991. The track was once again produced by Stock Aitken Waterman but it was, however, withdrawn only a matter of days from its planned release and thus did not chart. Sophie’s music career ended there and she returned to acting.
But which version is the best? KYLIE’s original or SOPHIE’s cover?
