More milestone birthday’s to come in 2024!

As with anyone with a career spanning multiple decades, not a year now goes by without at least one Kylie era reaching a notable birthday and 2024 is no exception. 2024 will be the 35th anniversary of her second studio album, “Enjoy Yourself“. 1989 was the year that kicked off with Kylie and Jason finally getting to number one in the UK with “Especially For You“, having spent all of December in second place behind Cliff Richard. Along with “Enjoy Yourself”, the singles “Hand On Your Heart”, “Wouldn’t Change A Thing” and “Never Too Late” will all turn 35 as Kylie prepared to leave the 1980’s with eight UK top five hits and two number one albums to her name.

Kylie’s second big anniversary in 2024 will be the 30th birthday of her first album away from PWL, “Kylie Minogue” in 1994! Yes, “Confide In Me” and her first album for deConstruction will both turn in another milestone age and it doesn’t seem like yesterday we were all raving about the album with treats like “Surrender”, “Where Has The Love Gone?” and “Put Yourself In My Place” to wallow in, as well as Kylie’s comeback single after nearly two years away locked in a recording studio and almost forgotten about. This was the album that would be the real test of her longevity. Could she survive post-Stock Aitken Waterman and still be commercially viable? Clearly YES with the single topping the Australian chart and entering the UK chart at No.2.

Other albums/era’s with a birthday in 2024 include “Ultimate Kylie” celebrating its 20th anniversary and it’s a happy 10th birthday to “Kiss Me Once“! Kylie’s third major greatest hits album, “Step Back In Time”, turns 5 as does her fabled Glastonbury performance. My, how time does fly! What are your memories of 1989 and 1994?
