80’s singer Nik Kershaw is still going strong and pops up regularly at 80’s festivals as well as playing his own live shows, and is still recording and releasing albums – his most recent was “Oxymoron” in 2020!
40 years ago in January 1984, however, Nik released his second single, “Wouldn’t It Be Good”, and it gave him his first UK top 40 hit as well as charting across Europe, hitting the top five in Australia and making No.46 in America. The track followed his 1983 debut “I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”, which was not so successful first time around but would hit the top ten following a re-release a few months later.
Nik performed “Wouldn’t It Be Good” in 2023 at the 80’s Classical event, where the song was backed with a full orchestra, giving this ‘classic’ mid-80’s tune a more mature, elegant sound. Nik also performed the track in Munich, Germany for a Night At The Proms, once again with the backing of a full orchestra. 40 years on, now doesn’t that feel good?!
