COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘How Deep Is Your Love?’

The song, “How Deep Is Your Love?”, was originally recorded by the Bee Gees in 1977

The brothers Gibb wrote the song “How Deep Is Your Love?” in 1977 for the soundtrack of the film ‘Saturday Night Fever’. It was released as the first single from the album in September 1977, three months ahead of the film’s cinematic release, and topped the charts in America, Brazil, Finland and France, and went top ten in a further fifteen countries selling, to date, over five million copies.

The song was covered by another British group, Take That, in February 1996 as the last single released by them before they split (albeit only for nine years). It was the only new recording by the now four-piece for their “Greatest Hits” album released the following month and went to number one in Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Spain and on home territory, as well as going top ten in a further fifteen countries worldwide.

But which version is the best? BEE GEES’ original or TAKE THAT’s cover?
