Dylan ‘pops’ up with “The Alibi”
Pop
British singer Dylan has released her brand new single “The Alibi”, a glittering reintroduction with incisive lyricism that pushes her sound into the upper echelons of Pop.
The soundtrack to her generation’s heartbreak, the track sees the 24-year old reach new heights of vulnerability, while boasting some of her strongest storytelling to date.
“The Alibi” shifts away from the driving guitars normally associated with Dylan, drawing focus to Dylan’s crystalline voice placed over synths that build into an irresistibly hooky chorus. A deeply personal, yet relatable Pop-anthem, the track documents the aftermath of her greatest, yet most toxic love story. That these lyrics are set to her most polished track to date, makes the song even more striking.
The release of “The Alibi” comes a week before her largest headline show to date, at London’s iconic Hammersmith Apollo on 15th February as part of her Rebel Child tour, with sold out shows across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. The show is set to be a phenomenal consolidation of everything DYLAN has been building towards in her career: a celebration of a new pop voice truly in the ascendancy.
In 2022, fresh from releasing her last independent EP “No Romeo” and signing with Island Records, the 23-year-old’s life became a whirlwind. First, she hit the road on the support tour of a lifetime, opening for Ed Sheeran in humongous venues on both sides of ‘the pond’ with stadium-ready anthems from her top 20 debut mixtape “The Greatest Thing I’ll Never Learn”, before embarking on on two of her own sold out headline tours. Over the course of those runs, she’s increasingly levelled up venues and packed them with passionate fans – who she describes as her “little fucked-up family” – screaming back every word at her.
