Bryan Adams heaven

COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘Heaven’

The song, “Heaven”, was originally recorded by Bryan Adams in 1983

Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance wrote the song “Heaven” for Bryan’s fourth studio album “Reckless” in 1983. The track was released as the third single in April 1985, the album having been released the previous November. The song topped the US chart and peaked at No.11 in his native Canada. It made the top ten in a few other countries and No.38 in the UK, but despite this, it has since gone on to sell over 400,000 copies there!

“Heaven” was covered by Spanish DJ and producer Samuel Bouriah as ‘DJ Sammy‘ in 2001 and became his first commercially successful single. His dance version was sung by Dutch singer Do (Dominique van Hulst) and became a huge hit the world over, this time reaching No.1 in the UK and shifting over a million copies. DJ Sammy’s “Heaven” peaked at No.8 in America and No.7 in Canada. Do later re-recorded the song as a solo artist in 2003 while Brandi Carlile also turned in a version in 2010.

But which version is the best? BRYAN’s original or DJ SAMMY’s cover?
