I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.
“Yellow Submarine / Eleanor Rigby” by The Beatles was Number One on 20th August 1966 and stayed there for four weeks.
Yellow Submarine is a song that we used to sing when we were little and I never ever realised it was a classic song by one of the biggest band of the 60s until many years later. I then remember learning to play it on the keyboard during music classes at school. It’s just awesome!
As it’s a double A side I couldn’t not mention Eleanor Rigby.
Again, this is The Beatles at their best in my opinion. A few years ago I went through a phase of being addicted to mash-up songs and came across one with Eleanor Rigby mashed up with Madonna’s Ray Of Light and I just had to make a video for it, didn’t I…
