REVIEW: ‘Wonderland’ – Take That

The Take That Boys Return!

Take That sound better than ever. I listened to this album the other day from start to finish and just had to write about how good it sounds.

There is an eclectic mixture of genres and sounds mashed up into this fun pop album – the 8th from the man band!

The History Of Take That

As you probably all know, Take That started out as a 5 piece boy band, the members being Howard Donald, Robbie Williams, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and lead singer and songwriter Gary Barlow.

After Robbie left in 1995, the band fully disbanded in 1996 to the sound of hearts breaking across the UK. The band (minus Robbie) reformed in 2005 and they then started to produce new music, becoming even more successful than they were back in the 1990’s.

Robbie briefly re-joined the group in 2010 but both Robbie and Jason left the band in 2014, leaving Take That as a trio and releasing their hugely successful #1 album “III” in the winter of 2014.

Now they are back again, as a trio, and released their brand new album ‘Wonderland’ on the 24th March 2017.

Mature, Yet Edgy

This album sounds very mature and features many tracks that are unique in this current world of music we are in. You could argue in a lot of ways that lead single ‘Giants’ is pretty much the sound of the charts today and doesn’t really present anything new, but this is a red herring in terms of the quality of the material on the new album.

There are so many great stand out tracks, mainly ‘New Day’, ‘Hope’ and ‘The Last Poet’. Some of the tracks really explore new territory for the band, they seem to have gone ‘all alternative’ all of a sudden rather than straight on pop – it’s a welcome, refreshing sound.

Giants

‘Giants’ is the lead single and so it’s only fair we watch the video. Love. This. One!
