Who are Goldfrapp?
Goldfrapp is a two piece electronica duo who have been making sweet music together since 1999. In the 21st century, they have gone on to great success with six albums and on March 31st 2017, their seventh album “Silver Eye” was released.
I have been a huge fan of the group since their second album “Black Cherry” which was released back in 2003. I knew about them before then, mainly because of the use of so many of their songs in TV adverts and the like, but it wasn’t until I heard the song “Strict Machine” by them that I called myself a fan.
So here we are, “Silver Eye” is now playing and I am absolutely loving the song kicking off the 10 track album, “Anymore”. The first track on the new album was released back in January of this year and has been on continuous loop in my music library. I love how it is so striking and it almost commands you to sit down and listen to the thing, that’s if you’re not dancing to it. Want to take a look at the video?
The rest of the album is in a similar vein to “Anymore”, and there are many strong electronica tracks here, my favourites being “Systemagic”, “Zodiac Black”, “Moon In Your Mouth” and album closer “Ocean”, which hits you so hard with those strong beats and striking synths.
The album is in complete contrast to their previous album “Tales Of Us” which is very mellow in it’s nature and has a very soft touch behind it, I would say it’s the kind of album you listen to when wanting to drift off to sleep, whereas “Silver Eye” does the opposite and almost puts you into a trance of attention.
Here is how I rated the album in my iTunes:
It’s all very well me telling you how good this album is, but you should really go and check it out for yourself. Here, you can simply press play and enjoy listening to the new album in as easy as counting 1,2,3.
