Two of my favourite DJs at the moment come from Scandinavia and since I listen to a lot of their music I have created a superstar DJ playlist to make it even easier for me and anyone else who loves their sound.
Who Is Alan Walker?
Alan Walker (born 24 August 1997), occasionally known as DJ Walkzz, is a Norwegian record producer and DJ.
He is best known for the 2015 single “Faded“, which received platinum certifications in over 10 different countries. He was ranked 55th on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list of 2016.
Walker is the son of Hilde Omdal Walker, a Norwegian, and Philip Alan Walker, an Englishman. By birth, he was granted dual citizenship on the basis of his parental origin. At the age of two, he moved to Bergen, Norway with his parents and sister.
Walker grew up with two siblings, an older sister, Camilla Joy Walker, born in England, and a younger brother, Andreas Walker, born in Norway after the family moved from the United Kingdom.
Growing up in the digital era, Walker found an early interest in computers, which later turned into a fascination for programming and graphic design.
He initially had no musical background; however, he later taught himself by watching tutorials on YouTube based on music production.
Who Is Kygo?
Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll (born 11 September 1991), better known by his stage name Kygo is a Norwegian DJ, songwriter, record producer and musician.
He garnered international attention with his remix of the track “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran, which has received over 55 million plays on SoundCloud and 65 million views on YouTube and his single “Firestone” which has over 400 million views on YouTube with an additional 500 million plays on the music streaming service Spotify, as of August 2017.
Kygo has accumulated over 1 billion views on his music on SoundCloud and YouTube.
Kygo has since released several singles, such as “Firestone”, “Here for You”, “Stay”, and “It Ain’t Me”, which have debuted on several international charts. Kygo’s debut album Cloud Nine was released on 13 May 2016.
He made history on 21 August 2016 at the 2016 Rio Olympics, when he became the first house music producer to perform at an Olympics closing ceremony.
Kygo was born 11 September 1991 as a non-native foreign in Singapore, the son of Kjersti Gjerde, a dentist, and Lars Gørvell-Dahll, an abroad worker in the maritime industry. He has an older stepbrother Mads, two older sisters Johanne and Jenny, and a younger half-brother Sondre.
Through his childhood, he lived and traveled with his family in Brazil, Japan, Kenya and Egypt.
Kygo started getting piano lessons at the age of 6. He stopped when he was 15 or 16 and started producing music with Logic Studio and a MIDI keyboard while watching several tutorials on YouTube. When he decided to pursue music full-time he was halfway through a degree in business and finance at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Which one do I prefer? It’s to hard to say as I enjoy both their sounds for different reasons.
As well as producing their own tracks there are also fantastic remixes being created by these two geniuses, including tracks from Julia Michaels and The Weeknd.
Although some of the featured vocalists on their tracks are already well known such as Kodaline…
This playlists brings it all together – all tracks from both DJs, their remixes of popular songs & other songs by featured vocalists. I’m pretty sure I have managed to find everything available on Spotify but if I have missed anything – please let me know. Enjoy!
Thanks for the music Alan Walker & Kygo and keep the brilliance coming!
