Chairmen Of The Board

COVER vs ORIGINAL: ‘Give Me Just A Little More Time’

The song, “Give Me Just A Little More Time”, was originally recorded by Chairmen Of The Board in 1970

“Give Me Just A Little More Time” was the debut single by Detroit soul trio Chairmen Of The Board. Written by Edthe Wayne and Ron Dunbar, it was released in January 1970 and peaked at No.3 in both The US and The UK, their highest peaking single in both territories and would go on to sell a million copies Stateside.

In 1982 the song was covered by R&B singer Angela Clemmons who took her version to No.4 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play Singles chart, although this version failed to break the top 100 singles chart.

Ten years later, Australian singer Kylie Minogue recorded her version of the song for her fourth studio album “Let’s Get To It“. It was released as the third single from the album in January 1992 and peaked at No.2 in the UK, one place higher than the original, selling over 200,000 copies there. It was not, however, released in the US.

But which version is best? CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD’s original or KYLIE’s cover?
