FRESH: ‘Speak’ – Surprise Asteroid

Don’t Talk – Just Listen

By Steve McSteveface

Surprise Asteroid is a different breed. It operates in the dark, as an underground music project, releasing only the highest quality pop/alternative rock by way of collaborating with musicians across the country. The new single ‘Speak’ was produced in New York by the accomplished and well-known Anthony “Rocky” Gallo. Gallo has worked with acts such as John Legend, Spirit Animal, Tiffanny, Ice Cube, The Hold Steady, and many others.

‘Speak’ was independently released on January 19th, 2019.

Surprise Asteroid’s previous single ‘Break Your Curse’, produced in Nashville, received print and online coverage from several media outlets, and was SA’s return to music after a six-year hiatus brought about by the military service of a core songwriter and performer.

Surprise Asteroid is a music project that involves the help of many great talents. Formed in 2009 as an alternative to the traditional band, the collaborators’ love of music drives them together. Founding songwriters Grant Reigner and Joby Adams shyed away from a traditional formation with permanent members, they explored collaborations with fellow artists next door, in another city, or in another state. They have worked in Nashville, Fort Wayne, New York City, and Omaha.

Their full-length effort from 2011, ‘It’s Time To Run’, is available on CD both at limited retail locations and at all major online music outlets.
