Janna Pelle releases the video for “Died Trying”.
How do we learn to embrace the inevitability of death from a place of love and warm color? Janna Pelle’s new music video for “Died Trying” may just show us how. “Died Trying” is a visual remix of the concepts of mortality and grief. Directed by Audrey Lorea, the video embraces a Dia De Los Muertos theme and transplants it into a space-age mid-century-art infused video collage.
The beautifully shot video shows us the boundlessness of space intercut with images of Janna Pelle singing the lyrics directly at the audience, daring them to join her celebration of life by dancing through the graveyard.
Janna Pelle has been described as “the lovechild of Lady Gaga and Fiona Apple with the alter-ego of David Byrne”. She was born in Miami, FL and is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Aside from those artists already mentioned, Janna cites her influences as coming from Marina and The Diamonds and Aldonza/Dulcinea from Don Quixote Man of La Mancha.
The track is taken from her third studio album “Voice Memo” released last year and is the follow up to “Key Change” (2016) and her debut long player “Shameless Self-Promotion” in 2012. Janna also released the EP “The Show Must Go On” in 2014.
