The Guidance releases “Overs”.
Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based songwriter/producer The Guidance adopted the name in 2015 as a means of recognition and self-healing, a guiding light in finding his way through several major obstacles in his youth. After several years of honing his sound and touring the world with acts like Crystal Castles, The Guidance (real name Stefan Pruett) recently signed on with Tommie Sunshine’s Brooklyn Fire Recordings and has just released his latest single “Overs”, a dance/indie-electronic song with unique break-beat characteristics.
“I wrote this song in duality. This is a song about a very important friend of mine who made me realize that when you’re in a toxic relationship the difficulty of letting go of that relationship can be so taxing, regardless of that recognition or how much you try to reconcile that toxicity. But how more importantly it is to love yourself and gently find your way out. It’s also a song about how we as individuals don’t realize how much we practice sexism, even if we don’t mean to or it’s completely unintended, I learned this lesson myself through listening to my friends, my lovers (past and present) and being raised by amazing parents. I really hope this song is something that people can relate to in a positive way” he tells us.
