BROOKLNN is back with “Love Me Like That”!
Australian pop artist BROOKLNN is back after a year’s wait with her latest single “Love Me Like That”. She tells us: “I really wanted to write one of those songs you could cry to, dance to, make love to. An ‘all the feels’ song. ‘LMLT’ is based on a past relationship I was in that became really toxic. A whirlwind romance. Just whole lot of lust and not a lot of thinking. Soon enough we realized we wanted different things but never said it out loud and eventually he cheated. ‘LMLT’ is probably relatable to anyone that’s experienced that kind of relationship. Where you’d fall too fast, lose the spark just as quick and just sort of stay together because you think it’s better than being alone. I learnt so much from that relationship and him”.
The song came together in a Capitol Records studio in Stockholm with herself, producer Martin Eriksson and German artist Leony. The session was intended to be a co-write for Leony’s project but they soon realised it wasn’t the right direction for her. BROOKLNN felt a strong connection with the concept they’d started so she went with her gut feeling and later revisited the lyrics and melodies with Martin. When they were getting the sound together for LMLT they used some of BROOKLNN’s biggest influences in the current pop genre. You can hopefully hear a similar vibe to these songs when you hear LMLT. BROOKLNN has now moved back in her home town in Brisbane, Australia. After spending 4 years in Stockholm, Sweden, writing songs with and for artists from all over the globe she’s returned to plan her next move and prepare new music for release.
At 22 years old, she was discovered by Hayden Bell (The Veronicas, Savage Garden) who offered BROOKLNN an opportunity to travel to Sweden to experience co-writing sessions and after only a few days she was signed as a writer to publishing house The Kennel and Universal Music. From Sweden she’s been able to travel around Europe and LA for co-writing sessions and has a growing rate of co-written releases. BROOKLNN’s natural flair for writing pop bangers came from her childhood love of the legends that are: Michael Jackson, TLC, J.Lo and more. Unknowingly, she has been writing lyrics since the age of 11 thinking they were just poems. As soon as she began piano lessons she realised she was always writing songs and continued to pursue music from that moment.
