Matthew Reid aims to “Rise Above”!
Matthew Reid is a singer songwriter from Dublin Ireland. Over the years Matthew has written and recorded with some of the best musical talent Ireland has to offer. His song writing ability has grown over the years and recently he is beginning to crack the song skeleton structure with his easy listening uplifting style. Something he has done well is nailed the middle 8th sections in his songs which makes his song writing style unpredictable and exciting. For fun he recorded a homemade video of the The Beatles classic “Blackbird” which organically received 39,000 views on Facebook. Not an easy song to play for most but this version was clean crisp and beautiful to watch and to listen to.
He tells us of his new single “Rise Above”: “For this track I wanted to go into something a little different. I did not use a drummer in the studio, I used a drum machine instead, something to give a more modern radio sound and feel so I went with a stomper beat all the way through, I added acoustic and electric guitars with some EBow sounds with a Jazz bass groove which worked out well in the final mix. Again for the middle 8th section I brought it all down and blasted out the chorus for the outro. Very proud of the production on this track as it took a long time to get the final mix just right for radio. Some people tell me it has a gospel feel to the song”.
