KELLA is back with “Just My Type”!
New pop artist and songwriter, KELLA releases her new single, “Just My Type”, TODAY! It’s the last in a series of tracks to be released in 2019 by the ambitious Los Angeles based singer. “Just My Type” is the follow up to her critically acclaimed singles “Jealous”, released this summer and dubbed as an “empowerment song” (LA Weekly) and “her best work yet” (CelebMix); “Wanna Be Bad“, released in April and “Trainwreck” released in February. Hailed as a “future pop star” (Gems & Secrets) and making “captivating and vibrant pop” (Popmuzik.se) as well as being featured in the UK’s Popjustice; KELLA has garnered over one million global streams across all platforms with support from Spotify, Apple and Amazon; as well as Korean platforms Melon, Genie Music, Mnet, and Bugs.
Written in London with New Zealand pop artist, Massad; and produced with Johannes Andersson in Stockholm and Los Angeles, the song’s surface meaning draws a typical conundrum of good girl and bad boy, however shocking it is to onlookers and friends close by. “We actually wrote ‘Just My Type’ before my previous release ‘Wanna Be Bad’, as we wanted it to be the beginning of the theme of forbidden attraction. Then we started thinking of the parallels to different situations in life – consumerism, social media usage, all other types of addiction – there’s always an attraction to begin with, but deep down we know that it’s not the healthiest choice”, says KELLA.
KELLA is an American pop songwriter and artist, based in Los Angeles, California. Born in central Florida, her ambition was to always create. Inspired by the sounds of Max Martin from artists like Britney, Christina, Backstreet Boys and N Sync; it was this merging of Scandinavian production and American songwriting which led her to Stockholm to pursue her music and eventually develop her sound. “I’m a product of the 90’s, arguably when the best pop music was around, with Swedish producers at the forefront of the soundtrack to my youth. This approach of merging cultures and backgrounds was something I wanted to emulate and as a result brought me to now” she says.
Prior to this, KELLA was perfecting her craft in both Nashville and London in songwriting sessions with artists from around the world in mulitple genres. She has recently written with critically acclaimed artists such as Bülow, The Him, The Ready Set and Virginia To Vegas; as well as globally recognised songwriters and producers including Teal Douville (Panic At The Disco, Gwen Stefani), Fran Hall (Britney Spears, Charli XCX), Tom Martin (Martin Garrix), Mike Wise (Fall Out Boy), Ebenezer (Stefflon Don) and Gazzo (Steve Aoki).
