The song “Killer” was originally recorded by Adamski with Seal
Adam Tinley aka DJ and producer Adamski released his second single “Killer” in April 1990, the follow up to his debut “NRG” at the beginning of that year. He recruited unknown club singer Seal (Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel) to perform the vocals. Together, they took the song to the top of the UK chart for four weeks during May, becoming the fifth biggest seller of the year as well as being a huge club and chart hit around Europe.
Both artists would go on to continued success during the 90’s, with Seal returning later that year with his debut solo release, “Crazy”. The song was taken from his debut album, single titled “Seal”, which oddly featured a new version of “Killer”, reworked by the album’s producer, Trevor Horn. Seal released this new version as the fourth single in November 1991, taking ‘his’ version to No.8 in the UK, No.100 on the US singles chart and No.9 on the US dance chart, much higher than the original had achieved a year earlier (No.23).
But which one is the best? ADAMSKI/SEAL’s original or SEAL’s cover?
