What was the number one song in the UK on 22nd October 1964?
British singer, Sandie Shaw reached number one for the first time with (There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me for 3 weeks.
Is this the first Bacharach and David song that I’ve reviewed on these here pages? I believe it might be. This was Sandie’s first UK number one and has a very Bacharach & David sound to it. At times incredibly gentle, but the chorus kicks in with some urgency. Interestingly, Sandie recored a French version (Toujours un coin qui me rappelle), which did fairly well and a German version (Einmal glücklich sein wie die ander’n), which was not a success.
Lyrics
Walk along those city streets you used to walk along with me
And every step I take recalls how much in love we used to be
Oh how can I forget you
When there is always something there to remind me?
And every step I take recalls how much in love we used to be
Oh how can I forget you
When there is always something there to remind me?
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love you
And I will never be free
You’ll always be a part of me
I was born to love you
And I will never be free
You’ll always be a part of me
Whoa-ooo-ohhh-oh
If you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share
Just go back to the places where we used to go
And I’ll be there
If you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share
Just go back to the places where we used to go
And I’ll be there
How can I forget you
When there is always something there to remind me?
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love you
When there is always something there to remind me?
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love you
And I will never be free
You’ll always be a part of me
Whoa-ooo-ohhh-oh
Whoa-oh-ooo-ohhh
You’ll always be a part of me
Whoa-ooo-ohhh-oh
Whoa-oh-ooo-ohhh
f you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share
Just come back to the places where we used to go
And I’ll be there
How can I forget you
Just come back to the places where we used to go
And I’ll be there
How can I forget you
When there is always something there to remind me?
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love you
And I will never be free
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love you
And I will never be free
When there is
When there is
When, there, is
When there is
When, there, is
Always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
