What was the number one song in the UK on 24th June 1965?
British rock band, The Hollies hit the top spot for 1 week and then again for 2 more weeks on 8th July with I’m Alive.
The verses of I’m Alive are pretty non-descriptive, but the chorus is incredibly catchy and well known. I wouldn’t say I was a great fan of this track, but can see how it charmed the audience of the 60s.
Lyrics
Did you ever see a man with no heart
Baby, that was me
Just a lonely, lonely man with no heart
Til you set me free
Baby, that was me
Just a lonely, lonely man with no heart
Til you set me free
Now I can breathe
I can see
I can touch
I can feel
I can see
I can touch
I can feel
I can taste all the sugar sweetness in your kiss
You give me all the things I’ve ever missed
I’ve never felt like this
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
You give me all the things I’ve ever missed
I’ve never felt like this
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
I used to think I was living
Baby, I was wrong
No I never knew a thing about living
Til you came along
Baby, I was wrong
No I never knew a thing about living
Til you came along
Now I can breathe
I can see
I can touch
I can feel
I can see
I can touch
I can feel
I can taste all the sugar sweetness in your kiss
You give me all the things I’ve ever missed
I’ve never felt like this
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
You give me all the things I’ve ever missed
I’ve never felt like this
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
Now I can breathe
I can see
I can touch
I can feel
I can see
I can touch
I can feel
I can taste all the sugar sweetness in your kiss
You give me all the love I’ve ever missed
I’ve never felt like this
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
You give me all the love I’ve ever missed
I’ve never felt like this
I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive
