The song, “Crying In The Rain”, was originally recorded by The Everly Brothers in 1962
The sombre and haunting “Crying In The Rain” was written by Howard Greenfield (1936-1986) and singer-songwriter Carole King and originally recorded by brothers Don (b.1937) and Phil (1939-2014) Everly in 1962. It peaked at No.6 on both the US and UK singles charts.
Tammy Wynette recorded a version in 1981 but the most significant other recording of the song came from Norwegian trio a-ha in 1990 as the lead single from their fourth studio album “East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon”. Their version reached No.13 in the UK and was a top ten hit across Europe.
But which one is the best? The EVERLY BROTHERS’ original or A-HA’s cover?
