Lona go to “Wonderland”
Enthralling Liverpool collective LONA started the year off on a major high with the release of “Black Paradise” and now look keen to keep momentum going as they officially unveil their latest punchy single “Wonderland”. The group prove again and again they possess a versatility that is so often hard to find, as they confidently navigate through different soundscapes while still being true to their artistic integrity. They do so once again with their newest cut “Wonderland”, a bright, uplifting yet purposefully alt-rock anthem, further underpinned by its rousing lyrics as they speak to letting go of inhibitions with a chorus call to euphoria.
With Hamish Kay in the director’s chair, “Wonderland” comes alongside cinematic visuals befitting of a track. The new monochromatic video celebrates the vibrant energy of the band and doubles up as a jam-packed highlight reel as live performance footage meets creative flair. Sharing their insight on their newest single, the band shared: “Right now, more than ever, we feel like we’re living in a Wonderland. These times are so confusing, lonely and scary. It’s hard not to get down in these surreal times. It feels like we are stuck in a real-life movie. We lose sight of the bigger picture, how amazing us humans can be.
“There are people on the front line, risking their lives to save others, people singing in the streets to make sure nobody feels isolated or forgotten. Amongst the chaos, there are beautiful moments. The world is full of unconditional love and hope, and we’re here to share this message to every last person. The lost, the lonely and the loved”. The very embodiment of the song and the band in general, LONA are establishing themselves with this mantra – an unconventional collective, from their fashion right down to their art. As the powerful words of “Wonderland” – “if your ever feel low I want you to know it can only get better” – ring true, LONA are proving they can breathe new life and energy with their music. A powerful new name in their sphere, they are certainly one to look out for in 2020.
