What was the number one song in the UK on 13th November 1968?
American orchestra leader and composer, Hugo Montenegro got to number one for 4 weeks with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
Well here we are, a cover of the one of the most iconic film theme tunes ever- The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The original film score was by legendary composer Ennio Morricone and it was then covered by Montenegro two years after the film’s release. It sounds very similar to the original, but slightly less grandiose. I’m struggling to work out why this cover was necessary or why it was so successful both sides of the pond. However, it’s nice to reference Morricone and nod towards his lifetime of cinematic contribution as a kind of homage to him, not long after his death only a few weeks ago.
