John Mason has “Time To Think”
Following on from his well received single “Coral For Coal”, released in July, John Mason has released “Time To Think”. Over the past few years John’s travels have taken him on a musical journey through the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Asia and then home to Europe, accompanied only by a guitar called Grace.
Formerly playing with his band CAB Collective, as a newly founded solo artist John quickly accumulated fiercely loyal fans the world over, recording his debut solo album “Chasing My Grace” at Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios in Auckland.
“Time To Think” is the second single and title track from his forthcoming EP recorded in collaboration with ARIA winning producer Adrian Breakspear (Gang of Youths, CLEWS, Johnny Hunter). Featuring drums from Miles Thomas (Montaigne, Japanese Wallpaper), “Time To Think” dances somewhere between roots reggae and upbeat folk, providing a groove-able landscape and words to reflect on.
John tells us: “‘Time To Think’ is about the grandness of the small things – looking past the superficial in people or the mundane in a rainy morning to see something beautiful. The chorus comes frompersonal experience and attempts to state the importance of learning to trust yourself instead of only looking for someone else for answers”.
