TRIVIA: The UK Singles Chart In The Year 2000

So what happened in the UK singles chart in 2000 to make it so special?

Apart from being the turn of a new millennium, The year 2000 in the British singles chart was notable for two events…

Firstly: Most successive weeks with a new number one!
From 24th June to 16th September 2000, every week saw a new record top the chart. This run of 13 new number ones in as many weeks is the longest of such instances in chart history.

Secondly: The most number one’s in a single year!
2000 also holds the record for most number ones in a year – 42 of them (43 if you count Westlife’s “I Have A Dream/Seasons In The Sun”, which spanned over from 1999).
