FRESH: ‘Washed Up’ – Telemarkk

Telemarkk are not “Washed Up”

UK electro-indie maestros Telemarkk release their new single, “Washed Up”, today, their third release of 2020 and the follow up to “Never Know” and “Stay Up (Wide Awake)”. “Washed Up” is an infectious synth driven 80’s retro pop-dance anthem that will be a must for all synthwave lovers as well as those of use who remember when songs like this first appeared on stereo vinyl!

Telemarkk is the creation of childhood friends Max Berg and Asad Siddiqui, who met in Southampton in 2019 and began creating almost immediately, releasing their debut work, “Lucid Dreams”, that same year. Their live cover of The 1975’s “Somebody Else” gives a visual insight into how they worked to produce and record tracks, despite being apart over lockdown, the song was described as “the most beautiful cover” by BBC Introducing recently.

Bought up on the synth sounds of the 80’s, although too young to have experienced it first hand, Telemarkk blend retro synth-pop with modern electronica to create gloriously dreamy and textured productions that are as ambiguous as they are wonderful and exciting. “Washed Up”, with glistening vocals and skillfully blended words, is just that and a perfect wash of old, new and future music tastes and styles.
