A quarter of a century of Celine Dion’s biggest selling album (so far)!
Celine Dion celebrates the 25th anniversary of the release of her monumental album “Falling Into You” on 12th March 2021. This became the biggest-selling album of 1996 and sold over 32 million copies worldwide and went on to win two Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.
“Falling Into You” has won many other awards including three World Music Awards for World’s Best Selling Artist of the Year, World’s Best Selling Pop Artist of the Year and World’s Best Selling Canadian Artist of the Year. The album is also listed on Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Definitive 200 albums of all time.
The album’s opening track “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” is often seen as emblematic of Celine’s musical style and quickly became a fan favorite and a centrepiece of her concert repertoire. Other showstopper tracks on the album include Celine’s own take on “All By Myself” by Eric Carmen and “River Deep Mountain High” a song created by Phil Spector for Tina Turner.
International editions of the album featured her version of Carole King’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” as well as the song “Your Light” while in the Far East, the song “To Love You More”, was added, having topped the Japanese singles chart in 1995, where it sold over 1.5 million copies.
Her fourth English language album included the title track, which was written and previously recorded by Argentinian singer Marie-Claire D’Ubaldo and the Oscar nominated number one smash, “Because You Loved Me” along with any number of superb tracks from the funky “Make You Happy”, the English recording of “Tu M’aimes Encore” (“If That’s What It Takes”) and the cute “Fly” that closes the album.
On “Falling Into You”, Celine worked with the biggest producers of the time including David Foster, Jim Steinman, Humberto Gatica and Ric Wake. The album reached No.1 in eleven countries and was certified 7 x Platinum in the UK, Diamond in Canada, 12 x Platinum in the US and multi-platinum in many other countries.
Celine will be touring the UK in May and June of 2022.
