The White Lakes release “This Generation”
Indie Pop
Oxford, UK band The White Lakes have got a very retro sound to their self-styled and written music and with four tracks their name, 2021 sees the boys come back with a bang.
Their first new material of this year, “This Generation”, offers a brutal observation on modern life and the times we live in.
The song blends indie pop with Britpop as well a strong sense of what has gone decades before with a fresh take from young minds and eyes. “This Generation” wryly comments on how obsessed millennials (including themselves) are with technology, especially during recent lockdown. The bands retrospective look at our recent common experiences coupled with the optimistic forward looking view is definitely fresh and opinionated, so beware!
The White Lakes – Matt Ellacott (Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Finlay Carson (Lead Guitar), Logan McQuirk (Bass) and Kyle Oliveira (Drums) – ‘burst’ on to the music scene in 2018 with “All Night” and have spent the past twelve months writing in readiness for playing live and taking their new music to the masses. They supported Razorlight at a sold out O2 Indigo, in London and played The Wedgewood Rooms, Truckfest, Carfest, Summer Live, SOMA Festival, The Boiler Room (Guildford), Live Wyre Festival and The Camden Assembly in 2019.
