FRESH: ‘Bring Back The Time’ – New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley, Salt’N’Pepa, En Vogue

80’s and 90’s stars come together to go back in time…

Pop

Imagine what would happen if all your favourite pop stars of the 1980’s and 90’s came together on one record and how it would sound. Well, you don’t have to any longer, as they have!

80’s chart king Rick Astley, boy band super group New Kids On The Block, rapping divas Salt’N’Pepa and the 90’s Supremes, En Vogue have all joined forces to record a new song together ahead of a multi-date tour of the US!

The song, “Bring Back The Time”, has been co-written and produced by New Kids Donny Wahlberg and will be the showcloser for their Mixtape 2022 tour. Previous tours have seen them perform with the likes of Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, now they rope in UK chart star, Rick Astley, who achieved number one’s in America in 1987 with “Never Gonna Give You Up” and “Together Forever” in 1988.

Back in ’89

New Kids success began in America some years before they went international, but in 1989 their singles “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “Hangin’ Tough” found their way to number one across multiple continents and started an obsession with the five teens that would take them into the 1990’s. Salt’N’Pepa had already found success in 1988 with their hit, “Push It” and after a break of three years, came back in 1991 with hit after hit with “Let’s Talk About Sex” and “Don’t You Want Me?”.

En Vogue achieved US chart hits at the beginning of the 1990’s with “Hold On” and “My Lovin'” and joined forces with Salt’N’Pepa in 1993 for “Whatta Man”. “Bring Back The Time” is a cosy slice of past pop but with a twinkle in their eyes, it still sounds fresh and modern, some thirty years or more after they all made their tentative steps on the road to stardom.

Mixtape 2022 takes in over 50 shows across America beginning on May 27th in Los Angeles and finishing in Washington DC on July 23rd. NKOTB last tour, Mixtape 2019, saw the ‘boys’ and their guests play to over 650,000 fans across the country, so a follow up was bound to happen…when it was possible!
