First Aid Kit sing for an “Angel”
Folk-Pop
Swedish sisters Johanna (b.1990) and Klara (b.1993) Söderberg began performing as First Aid Kit in 2007 and so far have achieved huge success in their native homeland as well as in parts of Europe.
Their 2012 album “The Lion’s Roar”, 2014 album “Stay Gold” and their 2018 album, “Ruins”, all went to number one and have also been top 40 hits in the UK and gone top 100 in America.
The duo are now preparing to release their fifth album, their first since “Ruins”, and kick off with the infectious “Angel” as the lead single, which follows a number of new but previously unreleased tracks during 2019 and 2020. First Aid Kid go by the genre of Folk Pop but a good indication of what they look and sound like is if you can imagine ABBA crossed with Duffy with a splodge of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” – very 60’s, very 70’s and very retro!
Their songs have featured in movies while the sisters have performed and worked with the likes of George Ezra, Zara Larsson and American band Bright Eyes. “The Lion’s Roar” and “Stay Gold” have both achieved Gold certification in the UK for sales of 100,000 copies with “Stay Gold” peaking at No.23 on the US album chart. Similarly their single “My Silver Lining” has been certified Silver in the UK for sales of more than 200,000 copies and became the first of three singles to date to make the US Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
First Aid Kit are on tour this Summer including a spot at Glastonbury and will continue to tour across the UK in June, moving to mainland Europe in July and finishing up in America at the end of August.
