45 years ago, Chic released their debut single, “Dance Dance Dance”. The song broke the top ten on both sides of the Atlantic and the group, headed by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, went on to become centre stage of the Disco revolution of the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Since then, there are not many that Nile Rodgers hasn’t written and produced songs for. Diana Ross, David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Grace Jones, the list is almost endless. As he celebrates his 70th birthday later this month, Nile is still studio bound and working on new tunes with current arists, most recently with German singer/songwriter Roosevelt on the song “Passion“.
His latest collaboration sees Nile hook up with celebrated Scottish-born singer, Emeli Sande, for the Disco-backed song, “When Someone Loves You”. Emeli released a new album this year, her fourth, and this is the fifth new track to come out in support of that album. Nile has been touring, again, this Summer, along with Chic and playing to sellout crowds, as always. Le freak, c’est chic!
