The song, “A Million Love Songs”, was originally recorded by Take That in 1992
Gary Barlow (b.1971) of British boy band Take That wrote the song “A Million Love Songs” at the age of 15. It was recorded for the quintet’s debut album, “Take That And Party” in 1992 and released as the sixth single in September that year. The song gave the group their first self-penned top ten hit, peaking at No.7 the following month.
Thirty years later in 2022, British band The 1975 recorded a version of the song for a BBC Radio 2 live session in support of their upcoming new album, “Being Funny In A Foreign Language”, along with their own recent singles, “Happiness”, “I’m In Love With You” and “All I Need To Hear”. Recognition indeed from one ‘boy band’ of the 21st century to another of the 1990’s!
But which version is the best? TAKE THAT’s original or THE 1975’s cover?
