Thirty years ago, dance-pop act D:Ream achieved four UK top thirty charting singles, the highest of which was “U R The Best Thing”, which reached No.19. It was the re-issue of the preceding single, “Things Can Only Get better”, in January 1994 that took them to the very top.
A remix of “U R The Best Thing” in April 1994 saw the song achieve a new chart high of No.4 and the group would go on to have a handful of hit singles into the mid-1990’s. After going their own ways and former keyboard player Brian Cox becoming something of a brainiac in the world of science, Pete Cunnah and Al Mackenzie reformed and released new music in 2021.
Their new single, “Pedestal”, follows in the footsteps of their comeback album, “Open Hearts, Open Minds” and finds the duo in more restful, chilled form than their heady days of stardom and chart success of 1993/1994.
