80’s Queens of Pop team up for “Gonna Be You”
Pop
Imagine the biggest female recording artists of the 1980’s performing a track by the biggest female songwriter of the 1980’s…well, it’s happened! Diane Warren has gathered an incredible quintet for her latest tune.
None other than Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Blondie’s Debbie Harry all sing on the brand new track “Gonna Be You”, and it’s out today, and it’s awesome!
“Gonna Be You” has been written and recorded especially for a new film that’s coming out next month called ’80 For Brady’. Starring Academy Award nominee Lily Tomlin, Academy Award winner Jane Fonda, Academy Award winner Rita Moreno and Academy Award winner Sally Field, with seven-time Super Bowl Champion and producer Tom Brady, ’80 For Brady’ is inspired by the true story of four best friends living life to the fullest when they take a wild trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play.
Diane says of the song “When I wrote ‘Gonna Be You’ for the film, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women’s deep friendship. Since 80 was in the title I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80’s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!!!! Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me!! I’m honoured to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!”
Diane Warren was responsible for such 80’s chart classics such as “Rhythm Of The Night”, “Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now”, “I Get Weak” and “If I Could Turn Back Time”, to name only a handful of the number one, million selling hits she has churned out in the past 40 years. check out our feature on her achievements and some of those songs here.
