FRESH: ‘I’d Rather Dance With You’ – Narada Michael Walden and Cornell CC Carter

Narada Michael Walden would rather dance with Cornell CC Carter

Pop-Soul

Narada Michael Walden’s music career stretches back to the mid-1970’s as a solo artist. He got his first hit in 1979 with “I Shoulda Loved Ya” and his album “The Dance Of Life”.

But it is as a producer and songwriter in the 1980’s that Narada is best known, the man behind some of the biggest and most iconic songs of the decade as well as another solo hit with “Divine Emotions” in 1988.

Now Narada is back with some more new material and his latest collaboration sees him hook up with Cornell CC Carter for “I’d Rather Dance With You”. The track follows on from “Baby Let’s Go” earlier in 2023 and his 2022 retro tune “The Night’s Not Over”. “I’d Rather Dance With You” is released as an EP with club mixes and a ‘Euro’ Pop mix of the song, which sounds instantly Narada and takes you straight back to the mid-80’s even with your eyes open wide!

Carter has worked with James Brown, Sly and The Family Stone and Carlos Santana to name but a few. He enjoyed big success in 2018 with the album “One Love” and the lead single from it, “That Feeling”, while his 2019 album “Absoulutely” went to No.1 on the UK Soul chart and featured the singles “Say Yes” and “I See Love”. He is currently recording the follow up to his 2021 album “Next Life”.

It was in 1985 that Narada built his own studio to start a new life as a producer and invited the likes The Temptations, Sheena Easton, Lionel Richie and Sister Sledge there to record. Narada would become the man responsible for “Who’s Zoomin’ Who?”, “How Will I Know?“, “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off“, “Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now“, “Licence To Kill“, “Vision Of Love” and many others, as well as contributing songs to the soundtracks of films like ‘Mannequin’, ‘Beverly Hills Cop 2’, ‘Innerspace’ and ‘The Bodyguard’.
