Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, aka Daft Punk, have revisted their 2013 album “Random Access Memories” and ‘reimagined’ it as a drumless edition, stripping it back to just melodies and vocals. The overall production now has a much chilled, refined sound to it.
“Random Access Memories” was the duo’s fourth and most recent album which featured the massive hit single “Get Lucky” that featured Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, with three other singles coming from the album, which went to No.1 in over a dozen countries and received Platinum discs from the UK to America and beyond.
The album was another killer hit for the pair, who turned up in 1995 with “Da Funk” and enjoyed global smashes with “Around The World” in 1997 and “One More Time” in 2000. All four of their studio albums have gone top ten in the UK and top three in their native France. Daft Punk would go on to score the 2010 Tron movie ‘Tron Legacy’ and serve up another best selling album.
In 2021 the duo announced they were splitting and calling it a day with the Daft Punk venture, but now they have dished up one more surprise with the “Drumless” edition of their last studio album, ten years on and off the back of the 10th anniversary editionw which came out earlier in 2023. Hardly retirement yet then!
