Which artist has appeared on more Number Ones than anyone else? It’s the ex-Beatle himself – Sir Paul McCartney.

Paul McCartney has appeared on more Number Ones than any other artist under a diverse range of credits.

He has, in fact, appeared on 25 Number 1s; solo (1), with Wings (1), Stevie Wonder, The Christians et al (1), Ferry Aid (1), Band Aid (1), Band Aid 20 (1), Justice Collective’s Hillsborough and The Beatles (17). He could potentially bring this up to 26 with his appearance on “FourFiveSeconds

I do like Paul but it’s sometimes frustrating that when there’s a major British event he always ends up as the “main event” – his voice simply isn’t what it was and perhaps he should think about retiring gracefully. Also, isn’t this uncanny…

Aside from the Beatles what would be my favourite song that Sir Paul has taken to Number One? It’s got to be “Mull Of Kintyre”.
