FRESH: ‘We Don’t Talk No More’ – Southchurch

British trio Southchurch release “We Don’t Talk No More”.

by Christopher Smith

Labelled as “Deliriously energetic” by Clash magazine, Essex based trio, Southchurch, are set to take 2019 by storm with the release of their debut EP. Combining soulful vocals, organic instruments, modern production and captivating lyrics, this progressive pop collective are quickly emerging as ones to watch! “We Don’t Talk No More”, is one of the five songs from the EP, titled “III”.

The lyrics to this record come from a very personal place and the group feel they extremely relatable. Social media is fantastic and is being used by millions of people everyday to connect. However, it’s intrusiveness allows us all to see into others worlds with a simple click of a button. The video is a great example of this exact problem, it’s harder to move on from a situation when that world is still so accessible.

The BBC Introducing Essex Sound of 2018 tipped collective is made up of Casey Kaye (vocals), Sheep (production) and TK (keys), with their guitarist Aaron Lee leaving earlier this year due to personal reasons. The group have been working alongside renowned producer Livingstone Brown who introduced them to globally respected Maxi Priest. A spark was immediately formed which subsequently lead to Maxi Priest featuring on their first major release “Fading”. The Track was featured as Record Of The Day, peaked at No. 16 in the UK Club Charts and garnered further support from Clash Magazine who premiered the video.

Following the success of “Fading” the guys teamed up with UKG legend Wookie to produce the summery UKG-laced jam “One Life”. The release recieved a great reception and after one of the members (TK) was diagonsed with Bell’s Palsy, the collective decided to use the video as an opportunity to raise awareness of the physical and mental effects surrounding Bell’s Palsy. The video received great support from several charities and organisations and in particular SANE.

Previous singles have seen Soutchurch team up with upcoming U.K rapper Jords (who also features on the upcoming EP), Crazy Couzins’ “Flukes” and Singer/songwriter Sonna Rele. They’ve received radio support at Kiss, Capital Xtra and BBC Essex, whilst their track ‘M.F.D.S.G’ was used as part of advertisement by Mastercard for The Brits Are Coming 2018. The UMA nominated Best Electronic Act have already hosted their own sell out headline shows and played various clubs, venues and festivals such as Cargo, 93 Feet East, The Lighthouse, Chinnery’s and more. On top of that they host a biweekly radio show on FunkySX where they champion upcoming UK talent alongside their own latest releases. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears pealed as Southchurch continue their upward trajectory.
