Alex2e remembers “You’re One Of Us”
“You’re One Of Us” is a song about nostalgia, growing up and making time for the people who matter most – especially when life starts to get in the way. It’s about getting older and watching your friends become the people they always wanted to be. It’s about being happy for where you’ve been and where you’re going – while knowing the bonds you have with your people will always be there. YOOU blends Alt-Pop and Singer-Songwriter genres, while delivering introspective storytelling, in a beat driven track.
Alex2e (actual name Alex Tuohey) is a self-taught singer/songwriter from Western Massachusetts. More importantly, Alex2e is a storyteller. In 2012, while recovering from a major surgery and desperate for reprieve, he picked up his sister’s beat up guitar and started writing. Words became lyrics, days became months and bathroom video covers turned into gigs. Fast forward to today and his leaps can be measured in dog years. Called “One of Boston’s most sought after artists” by Berklee’s Red Room, Alex has made a name for himself both in his home state and beyond.
Averaging 130+ dates annually, he has traveled the country while supporting national acts such as Howie Day, Tyler Hilton, Aaron Carter, O-Town, Shawn James, Griffin House and Everclear frontman Art Alexakis among others. His new single “Crew” has continued the touring momentum, receiving placement on Spotify’s New Alternative Playlist and airplay on Radio 104.1 WMRQ-FM, while amassing over 25,000 streams in it’s first few weeks. “This year has been more than I could’ve hoped for. I really feel like I’m playing with house money” Tuohey says. “For a guy who never thought he’d play to anyone but his mom’s bathroom mirror, it’s been a dream to play for people. At a bar to a couple people or a packed venue, it’s a dream”.
