Alvinos Zavlis gives us “Good”
UK based independent music producer and keys player Alvinos Zavlis releases his new single, “Good”, which features vocalist Waji, who he met online after he found one of her acapellas at a blog online. “Good” is a beautiful mixture of R&B along with electro-pop with such sweet vocals as to let you drift away and swim with every note and harmony. “Good” is Alvinos and Waji’s third collaboration together.
Waji has recently released an EP titled “City On Stars”/”Dahlia” which has been getting significant buzz online. Alvinos has put out the single “Wampakacha” with artist Young Smart, which was number one this summer on Nation FM Kenya. “Good” was recorded in Alvinos’ home studio in Gillingham during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown. Waji recorded her vocals in her bedroom studio in Chicago, which Alvinos mixed at his home in Cyprus a couple months later, where he’s originally from.
“Good” was inspired by Disclosure’s production on Khalid’s “Talk”. Alvinos tried to achieve a bass/percussion relationship similar to the one on Khalid’s record, while mainting his signature sound. On the song, Waji sings about coming home after a hard day and looking forward to seeing her girlfriend. She sings about cooking for her girlfriend and taking care of her in any way she can after she gets home from work. It’s a very sweet but unapologetic song about loving who you want to love and caring for them.
