The song, “Keeping The Dream Alive”, was originally recorded by Frieheit in 1988
“Keeping The Dream Alive” was written by Timothy Touchton, Curtis Briggs and Aron Strobel and Stefan Zauner of German band Münchener Freiheit and released as their first English language song, under the shortened name of Frieheit, in November 1988. It peaked at No.14 in the UK and No.20 in Ireland the following month becoming, to date, their only chart hit in those countries.
The song has been covered a handful of times since. By Kim Wilde in 2013 and The Fizz (formerly Bucks Fizz) in 2018. It has been revived by 4,550 singers of the Rock Choir national community of singers in the UK in 2020 who have recorded their version to raise funds for the Mental Health Foundation in the UK. The song entered the singles sales chart at No.1 upon release!
But which version is the best? FRIEHEIT’s original or ROCK CHOIR’s cover?
