British singer, songwriter and, yes, guitarist Matt Fleming releases only his second ever single, “King & Queen”, along with vocalist Vale Tubert.
This instantly catchy acoustic number follows on from his 2021 debut with the double A sider “Four Walls” and “Run Away” as Matt brings this complicated recording to our attention.
Matt recorded his vocals at home in London, while Vale, a native of Argentina, sent his section by the wonderment of the internet. Finally drummer Simon Whiting submitted his tracking to Winchester based guitarist and producer Will Davies and the whole song was pieced together! Wasn’t too hard was it?! Matt’s softly sung words and the gentle production build on his first two songs and I am sure are only the beginning of an exciting new career for him. With luck, Matt’s style of easy listening music will play well live as he hopes to take himself, and his guitar, out into the open to make us all feel like a king and queen once more.
Matt says the premise of the song came from: “The events of the last year are enough to inspire a whole lot. The song came together very naturally as a piece of writing- pre Christmas 2020. I had watched a Shawn Mendes documentary shortly before writing this song and maybe that inspired me in someway with the guitar style! ‘King & Queen’ was written at the start of the December UK lockdown, reminiscing of a time when we can return to the dance floor and social normality with mates. The song is largely a homage to missing a “normal” social life and the general buzz that you get frombeing in or around a large group of people without restriction or distancing”.
